Grandison’s 300th Nurse Success Story | From Visa Challenges to USRN Success
Behind every successful USRN is a story of perseverance, resilience, and the right opportunity. For Grandison’s 300th nurse, the journey to the United States was anything but straightforward.
After years of experience, multiple visa challenges, and setbacks that would discourage most applicants, she found a pathway forward—one that ultimately led to her long-awaited US visa approval in 2026.
This is her story, in her own words—a powerful reminder that with the right support and determination, even the most complex cases can turn into success stories.
Here’s a quick summary of the interview and Nurse Richtita’s journey in achieving her American Dream. Disclaimer: Some parts were translated and summarized in context. You may refer to the full raw video for complete review, experience and tips from Nurse Richtita.
In the video “From Visa Challenges to Nursing Success with Grandison,” USRN Richtita provides a detailed account on how she achieved her dream nursing job in the USA. Here are the direct quotes from her story:
On Her Nursing Background
“I am a registered nurse in the Philippines since 1992 and I’m a USRN since 2002. Experience-wise, it includes working as a nurse at a private oncology and hematology clinic in Manhattan, New York. I also work as a supplemental staff at a skilled nursing facility in Baltimore, Maryland. And I also work for 5 years as a rehab nurse at orthopedic and spinal cord injury unit in a hospital under the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore County.” [00:27]
On Her Previous Immigration History: Visa Challenges and Setbacks
“I first entered the United States in 2000. That was my first entry and I returned in 2001 to attend an intensive course or review program for my NCLEX exam. While I was doing that, a facility in New York filed a petition for me but it was denied. Apparently they weren’t able to receive my newly minted US RN license… I moved from New York to Maryland and they filed the petition and from that I was able to get a work authorization… But that too got denied. It’s because by that time, I already overstayed the terms of my B visa. I left the United States in 2010 and came back here in the Philippines.” [01:26]
On Discovering Grandison: A New Hope to her American Dream
“I sent applications to a number of recruitment agencies but they didn’t want me, probably because of my immigration history. And then I came across Grandison from social media and then they say ‘no experience, no problem’—that’s the message they want to convey. I was thinking, ‘Oh, is this just a clickbait or are they even legit?’ But I sent my application anyway and somebody contacted me… It didn’t take long, I was already reviewing for IELTS care of Grandison, of course for free… Suddenly there’s that flicker of light at the end of the tunnel for me.” [02:44]
On the Timeline of Her Success: Becoming Grandison’s 300th Successful Nurse Deployment
“Fast forward to 2023, the following year, I received my approval notice for my I-140 and in October 2023 I became documentarily qualified. So that was something. And then the retrogression—it was a long wait. But let’s fast forward to September 2025, that’s when I became current. That same month I got my medical from St. Luke’s. The following month, October, I got my biometrics at the VAC center. And December was my interview. And on January 22, 2026, they eventually gave me my US visa. I was beyond stoked having that visa finally.” [03:39]
On the Responsibilities of an Applicant
“While Grandison is there supporting us and assisting us through the immigration process, the progress can only go as far as what we’re giving them in return. And that includes submission of our requirements in a timely manner. Also being proactive and keeping our documents current, especially those licenses with expiration dates and our BLS certificate… reading instruction and understanding them well… At this point, we’re all professional and should be dealing with everything professionally.” [04:43]
Final Message of Hope to other Filipino USRNs affected by retrogression
“I also admire the way Grandison opens opportunities for everyone regardless of experience, age, and for people like myself with immigration history. It’s a testament to their dedication to give every applicant an equal chance to realize their American dream. My message here is hope. Don’t lose it. Persevere. And if something happens, you just keep on going and eventually everything will line up.” [05:43]
Why Now is the Best Time to Apply for USRN Jobs in the USA
The demand for nurses in the United States continues to rise, creating more opportunities for internationally educated nurses—especially from the Philippines. With ongoing shortages across hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and rehabilitation centers, employers are actively seeking qualified USRNs.
At the same time, US nurse visa movements and processing improvements are opening doors for faster deployment compared to previous years. For nurses who have been waiting or unsure about applying, this window presents a critical opportunity to start the process early and secure a priority position in the queue.
As seen in this story, timing, preparation, and the right agency can make all the difference.
